Week 5 Recap and Week 6 Bulletin
Week 5 has brought us to the midpoint of the camp season, and the heat hasn’t stopped the fun and learning! We have been mindful of each camper’s need to cool down, drink water, and rest throughout the days of this intense summer weather while taking part in our “Just Beachy” games, crafts, and STEM challenges.
🖌️Crafts included making a bandana tote bag, a beach themed diorama, and solar powered over to make S’MORES.
👟Physical activities included the floor is lava in the gym space, water balloon games, and, not one, but TWO specialties: the giant waterslide 🛝🌊 and the Foam Party. 🫧
🧜🏽♀️For Wednesday Dress-Up, campers dressed up as their favorite underwater creature or character!
🧬The STEAM Challenge of the week put camper teams to the test, challenging them to build a waterslide out of basic paper materials, aluminum foil, and straws, that could guide a marble to the bottom without falling out. Campers received a lesson on the physics of friction, and of course, they were up for the challenge.
⭐This week’s STEM stars are Laila B. and Eva W. from Unit 4!
🚴♀️Bold Adventures campers traveled to Wadsworth Park in Middletown, CT, on Wednesday where they enjoyed the sights of waterfalls. (Please note this was a change in the original field trip schedule due to the high temperatures on the original day of the trip.) Thursday included a trip to Ocean Beach in New London, CT, and, Friday, a trip to Lake Quassy Water Park and Beach!
NEXT WEEK – WEEK 6 “SUPER HERO TRAINING ACADEMY”🦸🏽♀️
Dive into all things super-human and explore your own superhero within. Invisibility, Flight, or Super-Strength, what would you choose? Tackle obstacles and rise to the challenge! Climb, jump, and tumble your way through the week… no challenge is too big! Calling all superheroes and villains, this week is for you! Solve the case with your friends, attend hero training, and see if you have what it takes.
WEDNESDAY: Dress up as your favorite superhero or villain! 🦸🏽♀️🦹🏻♀️
