Week 4 Recap and Week 5 Bulletin
“Through the Looking Glass” Week 4 provided an opportunity for campers to enjoy all things Disney while self-reflecting and recognizing their beauty inside and out!
🖌️Crafts this week included personalized, hand-crafted tea cups, beautiful roses made of duct tape, a painted Cheshire Cat, and unique and colorful sand necklaces.
🎉On Wednesday, campers enjoyed Toy Story-themed carnival games, a bounce house, and a Selfie Mirror, where everyone was able to take pictures with friends and staff! The day concluded with a Girls Inc. Tea Party, featuring a fashion show of campers debuting their Disney attire.
🧬For their STEM challenge, campers created a Moana “survival raft” to get off the make-believe island using only resources that were available on their island (their table). Resources included plastic straws, paper, popsicle sticks, and tape. Upon completion, the rafts were tested in water to see if the raft would float!
⭐This week’s STEM stars are Davina C. from Unit 2 and Eden B. from Unit 5 for their hard work in creating the floating structure.
🚴♀️Our Bold Adventures (Unit 7/8) campers visited the Essex Steam Train and Steam Boat, The Dinosaur Museum, Hammonasset Beach State Park, and the Beardsley Zoo. Leaders in Training (Unit 9+) campers enjoyed a visit to Hammonasset on Friday!
NEXT WEEK – WEEK 5 “JUST BEACHY” 🏖️
It’s o-FISH-al: you never know what type of aquatic life you’ll run into when you’re at the beach! Mermaids, pirates, and deep-sea divers welcome to explore. Starfish, whales, and all things fishy come out to play this week as campers discover the beautiful, bizarre, and truly odd goings-on in the deep blue sea. Dress up as your favorite sea creature, play water games, and live like a pirate.
Tuesday: We will have a FOAM Party that includes colored foam! Please make sure your camper wears clothing that may get stained during their playing time. 🫧
